The Chairman of the Rice Committee is a very seasoned professional with a distinguished career spanning academia, international development, banking and diplomacy. His extensive contributions to Liberia, Africa and the international community have been marked by good leadership, team spirit and commitment to institutional development.
While rice is primarily self-pollinated, bees and other insects still play an important role in maintaining a healthy rice ecosystem. These insects contribute to biodiversity, pest control, and overall crop health, which can indirectly enhance rice yields and sustainability.
The Rice Committee, particularly members of the Sub-Committee on Logistics, Storage Facilities & Local Transportation visited all storage facilities of the six main importers of rice in and near the Free Port of Monrovia on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. All member of the full Committee were welcome and the event was well attended. Starting at the Head Office of the National Port Authority in the Freeport, the Committee members, including Chairman Charles Minor, the Deputy Minister for Commerce and Trade of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Minister Wilmot A. Reeves and Fouta Corporation's Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director Alhaji Hamidou Gnan, walked and bused their way from warehouse to warehouse until they had visited all the warehouses with rice.
